NEW PRINCIPAL

BALLYBAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Co. Monaghan VEC has announced the appointment of Ms. Moya Lynch as Principal of Ballybay Community College, Monaghan with effect from 1st February 2010.

Moya is a graduate of St. Catherine’s College of Home Economics, Sion Hill. She took up a permanent teaching post with Co. Monaghan VEC in 1987 where she taught Home Economics in Ballybay Community College, and shared some teaching hours with Beech Hill College and Castleblayney College. In 1999 she was appointed Assistant Principal in Ballybay Community College. In 2002 she completed a MSc. in Education Management at the University of Ulster. She was appointed Deputy Principal in Ballybay Community College in 2002. Her involvement with a very successful whole school inspection in 2008 proved a very valuable experience for her.

 

In December 2008 Moya was seconded to Co. Monaghan VEC as Education Support to Second Level schools where she worked closely with CEO and the Principals of the 6 VEC schools on the development of school policies, gaining valuable experience in this area.

Moya is a native of Castleblayney, a daughter of Brian and Phil Sherry (nee Duffy Mullingar). Her late father Brian Sherry originated from Ballybay. Brian’s father Tommy Sherry was town clerk for many years in the town of Ballybay. Moya is married to Charles (Cha) Lynch and has 2 children, Ciara and Aidan both of whom are currently students of History and Politics at UCD.

Moya is the current Secretary to the Board of Directors in Castleblayney Credit Union and is actively involved the Castleblayney Choral Group and Castleblayney Golf Club.
She is looking forward to the appointment of a Deputy Principal in the coming weeks, working in partnership with staff, students and parent to further develop the school community of Ballybay Community College and to forging greater links with the local community.
