Co Monaghan VEC plans to run two National University of Ireland Maynooth (NUIM) programmes this autumn. These programmes will run on an outreach basis, i.e. classes will be held in Monaghan town, and successful participants will be awarded NUIM certification.

In recent years, Co Monaghan VEC has collaborated with NUIM to bring relevant, quality, University certified programmes to Monaghan. These programmes have been well attended and learners have benefitted greatly from participating.

This academic year, 2011-2012, it is planned to run two NUIM programmes:

1.         NUIM Certificate in Communication & Group Skills for Managers (Level 7)    Monday 6 - 9.30pm

This practical course incorporates soft skills and people management issues. It will assist learners to develop effective leadership, communication and facilitation skills at an individual, group and organisational level. It is suitable for individuals with no management/supervisory experience who wish to further their career and/or for those who wish to develop their existing management and communication skills.

2.         NUIM Certificate in Adult & Community Education (Level 8)         Wednesday 6 - 9.30pm

This course is designed to provide students with foundation skills in adult education. It offers students the opportunity to develop and practise their adult education skills. It is suitable for individuals who are working in an adult education role, wish to work in this area and/or have an interest in adult learning.

Both programmes will run one evening per week 6pm - 9.30pm over the academic year Sept 2011– May 2012. They are delivered in an interesting and varied format, which learners enjoy. There are assignments during the year, but no exams.

The programmes should be of interest and benefit to a wide range of people in Co Monaghan and beyond. They are an excellent opportunity to participate in a highly regarded NUIM certified programme without the extra time and expense of travelling outside the County.

If you would like to further information about either of these programmes, please contact Linda Pinkster: 047 30888, email: linda@monaghanvec.ie
