I've missed 9000 shots in my career, I've lost 300 games. 26 times I was trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

On the 6th of December 2005, the girls Cadet team from Largy College travelled away to the Phoenix Centre in Carrickmacross to take part in the North East Regional Final where they played Beech Hill College. Thankfully Largy College came out as champions to bring another cup home to their school, in what was a breath taking game. Lets set the scene:
First Quarter:
Edel Corrigan from Beech Hill opened up the scoring with a lovely 3 pointer putting Beech Hill into the lead. Largy College, with their eyes on the basket, and spotting the gaps, were getting the chances to shoot, but they just would not go in. 10 seconds left on the clock, Michaela Newel took a shot and scored, a lovely 2 pointer. Score at end of first quarter: 3-2 in favour of Beech Hill.
Second Quarter:
Nearly a replica of the first quarter, Beech Hill were the first to score, this time with a great 3 pointer from Siobhan Mc Carra. Largy Top players were now beginning to put pressure on Beech Hill to reduce the chances of them scoring 3 pointers. After some fine passing, Michaela Newel received the ball and preformed a perfect lay up shot. Score at end of second quarter: 6-4 in favour of Beech Hill.
Third Quarter:
The third quarter was definitely a frustrating one for Largy College, and a spectator might have thought it was not going to be our day. Beech Hill was awarded 2 free shots and Shauna Finnegan coolly converted one of them. Then Mairead Mc Donnell scored another basket for Beech Hill, after some great passing from the Beech Hill team. Orla king was determined not to give Beech Hill a big lead and slipped in through a gap and scored an impressive 2 pointer. However Siobhan Mc Carra had other ideas, and cancelled that shot when she scored a 2 pointer just as the hooter went. Score at end of third quarter: 11-6 in favour of Beech Hill.
Fourth Quarter:
The fourth quarter started. The Largy girls were psyched up and set the pace straight away. Remembering Michael Jordan 's quote, Largy's defence was up, and they were ready to do some shooting. Laura Boylan, Orla King and Michaela Newell scored three baskets within the first 3 minutes of the final quarter. The score was now 12-11 in favour of Largy College. Indeed this was the first time during the whole game that Largy took the lead and it left the last few minutes a nail biting time for both schools. Laura Boylan looked as if she was flying and scored with 2 minutes to go, leaving Largy 3 points ahead. But there was always a fear that Beech Hill would come back and get a 3 pointer. It wasn't until Bernice Agnew scored Largy's 5th basket of the quarter, with 30 seconds remaining, that we were sure that the cup was coming back to Largy.
